Huge leak: Next-gen Nexus phone specs and release timing revealed

Android fans who are interested in buying new Nexus devices probably know that Google might do things a little differently this year. The company is expected to launch two distinct Nexus handsets, including a reasonably sized LG Nexus 5 (2015) and a Huawei Nexus phablet.

Now, some interesting details about the latter have been posted online by a former leaker.

Evan Blass, who used his @evleaks Twitter account to pump out countless leaks about all sorts of mobile devices, tweeted a few hours ago details about specs and a purported launch window for the gadget.

According to the gadget leaker, the Huawei Nexus “sounds impressive so far” with its 5.7-inch QHD display, metal body, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and fingerprint reader. Blass added that the Huawei Nexus is slated to ship in the fourth quarter of the year, which is when Google usually launches new Nexus hardware.

Some of these hardware details aren’t necessarily surprising. Previous rumors indicated that the Huawei Nexus phone might have a 5.7-inch QHD display, and Google’s Android M does suggest that Nexus devices will have fingerprint sensors on board in the future. The inclusion of Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, one that isn’t available in any other flagship smartphone so far, might be a bit more surprising.

Meanwhile, a different report offered a sneak peek at the first purported benchmark results for LG’s new Nexus 5 update.
