Huge leak: Unreleased ‘HTC One M9 Plus’ pictured for the first time

HTC just announced its sleek new HTC One M9 flagship smartphone earlier this week, but the rumor mill has already moved on to bigger and better things. The new M9 features a design that is similar to last year’s HTC One M8 smartphone, but the internals have been upgraded and several key pain points have been addressed. Most importantly, the rear UltraPixel camera has been replaced with a much more capable 20-megapixel unit.

As nice as the new M9 looks, however, an even newer flagship smartphone from HTC has just been pictured for the first time.

Romanian gadget blog Mobilissimo.ro points us to a Weibo account that published a pair of leaked photos on Friday. While nothing is confirmed at this point, the photos reportedly show an unreleased HTC smartphone that is currently known as the “HTC One M9 Plus.”

The phone isn’t really a phablet variant of the HTC One M9, as early rumors had suggested. Instead, it’s a tweaked version of the M9 that was just announced, and it apparently features much better specs.

According to the report, the HTC One M9 Plus includes a 5.2-inch quad HD display, a 2.0GHz octa-core processor from MediaTek or a Snapdragon 810 processor depending on the region, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage and a fingerprint scanner.

There’s no word yet on when the HTC One M9 Plus might debut, but the leaked images can be seen below.
