Hulu Orders Amy Poehler's Difficult People, Starring Billy on the Street's Billy Eichner
Hulu has given a straight-to-series order to Difficult People, a new comedy produced by Amy Poehler and starring Billy on the Street's Billy Eichner and Julie Klausner.
Eichner and Klausner will play best friends who live in New York City and whose irreverent behavior frequently lands them in awkward situations.
Poehler is executive-producing the show with Klausner, who wrote the pilot, and Dave Becky (Louie). The Parks and Recreation actress is also a producer on Comedy Central's Broad City—and doesn't Difficult People sound pretty similar to Broad City, just with different actors on a different network?—as well as her brother Greg's NBC series Welcome to Sweden.
Difficult People is the latest in a string of programming announcements from Hulu. The online platform has also given recent series orders to Casual, a comedy series from Jason Reitman, and 11/22/63, an event series from J.J. Abrams based on Stephen King's book about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
