My heart and prayers go out to the famailys of those killed and injured during Irene's push through each of their states.
I'm impressed with the preparations that were coordinated and put into place in each state well in advance of Irene's strike. Everything was handled with such careful consideration of the many people faced with this threat. God Bless all of you. Had you not put this plan into effect I'd hate to hear how many more would have lost their lives. Hurricanes are nothing to mess around with. My motto is " better safe than sorry". We must always remember Andrew and Katrina and learn from them.

May we all remember those who lost loved ones and friends in "Irene". May we Pray for them in such a painful time as this. "May the Lord Bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and give you strength and peace". Let us also pray for those who lost their homes and all.

The trees are avenging the destruction of the forests by human, as you can see that the storm's deaths are mostly caused by trees.

It's hard to sympathize with people who chose to play in the surf, but I do have sympathy for their families.

I don't understand why people don't take these kind of storms seriously, common sense should guide you to seek safety and don't think that a hurricane of this magnitude is not deadly. maybe because they have never been in hurricanes before, either way sorry for their deaths and May They Rest Peace, condolences to their families, peace be with them.

Its sad that half of the deaths by the hurricane could have easily been prevented. When theres a hurricane, you dont camp out in a tent, go cut down trees, or go driving through high waters. Its not that the hurricane was that bad, its just the people didnt use common sense.

Hey morons, natural disasters kill people just about every time they happen. This hurricane was a total bust as far as hurricanes go and it was definitely over-hyped by the national socialist media in order to distract from Obama's utter failure. BTW, what has Obamby done for those still suffering in Joplin that are putting their lives back together without whining or significant aid from the freakin' federal government? And how about the drought in Texas and Oklahoma that is now destroying trees, livestock and has killed hundreds of people in the last three months. Why isn't the media giving that 24/7 coverage?

My family and I lived through hurricanes in Texas (in 1961 the eye of Hurricane Carla went right over our house), tornadoes in the mid-west, and earthquakes in California and we never whined and begged for government to bail us out in the aftermath. Our communities pull itself by its own bootstraps, churches helped out, and local public utilities and the private sector grew a pair and took care of business. I'm sick and tired of people bowing down to Obama or bowing down to the federal government pleading for deliverance. SUCK IT UP and man up ... real Americans hate whiners. Americans have become little more than wusses in not being able to deal with hard-core reality. Wait until the really big one hits and hundreds of thousands of people are killed by earthquake or hurricane or meteorist strike or even a terrorist dirty bomb. Check out the stats on how many people die in these 8 states over any two or three day period of the year and you will find it is probably just as many even many more than 18. But to make this news worthy the media will blame the hurricane, plus this morning when the TV newscaster was talking about how bad things were the sky had nice white clouds and there appeared to be a nice breeze blowing, Even though the newscaster was dressed like she was going deep sea Alaskan crab fishing . ridiculous.
