ICC reinstates 'Super Over' in finals to determine WC champion in case of tie

Johannesburg, Jan 30 (ANI): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that a Super Over will be reinstated to determine the winner of the upcoming World Cup in the event of a tie result. The ICC said in a statement that the board reinstated the use of a Super Over in the event of a tie in the World Cup final, Sport24 reported. The tiebreaker allows a team to nominate three batsmen to face six deliveries from a rival bowler. The Super Over was introduced into the One-day internationals in the 2011 final but was scrapped in the lead-up to next month's World Cup, which gets underway from February 14 in Australia and New Zealand.
