The Interactive Design Institute (IDI) and the University of Hertfordshire are celebrating the graduation of their first online graphic design degree student.

“I have been interested in the Arts from an early age and decided to study graphic design because it plays such an important part in defining a company’s image and in Thailand, the demand for experienced designers is increasing as the number of manufacturers grows,” according to Sarawut.
Sarawut is one of the first students to graduate with a UK BA (Hons) degree in graphic design delivered entirely online. The IDI team see this as a significant milestone for the company :
“We are delighted that our course, which was specifically developed for online delivery and validated by the University of Hertfordshire, has proved so successful,” says Michael Stewart, director of IDI, “having Sarawut and his family join us from Thailand makes this a truly special occasion.”
As a collaborative partner of the University of Hertfordshire, the IDI developed the online BA (Hons) in graphic design, with expert input from a variety of sources. “At IDI, we are aware that the UK has a long tradition of innovation in design and a reputation for the quality of teaching and high standards of research activity in its universities and colleges,” continues Stewart, a statement endorsed by Sarawut himself:

The tutors and staff at IDI always provided me with constructive feedback and advice and I found the online learning environment, forum and course materials to be of a consistently high standard.”
The results speak for themselves. Every graduating student has not only passed, but achieved commendable grades with two first class, four upper second and two lower second degrees being awarded. Indeed, the independent, external examiners responsible for appraising the students work were unanimous in their praise for the high standards achieved.
IDI is confident that this high level of student achievement is not only an endorsement of their graphic design course but for online delivery as a viable alternative to attendance based study.
