Idina Menzel to Star in Happy Time Comedy from Ellen DeGeneres

Do you want to build a television career? Idina Menzel sure does.

The Frozen actress has been tapped to star in Happy Time, a comedy produced by Ellen DeGeneres, our sister site Deadline reports.

Written by Randi Barnes (Girl Meets World), the single-camera project will center on Menzel as a woman in the public eye who’s ready to stop pretending she’s so happy all the time.

Warner Bros. TV and DeGeneres’ studio A Very Good Production are looking to develop Happy Time this summer.

Next up for Menzel: Performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before kickoff at Sunday’s Super Bowl XLIX.
