Ike Glass Jr. selected new Okla. regents chairman

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Board of Regents for Higher Education elected Ike Glass Jr. of Newkirk as new chairman of the board that oversees Oklahoma's colleges and universities.

The board voted Thursday to elect Glass chairman, Jimmy Harrel vice chairman, Mike Turpen secretary and John Massey assistant secretary.

Glass succeeds Julie Carson, whose term as chairman ended.

Glass was first appointed to the board in 1997 by Gov. Frank Keating and was reappointed in 2007 by Gov. Brad Henry.
