NEW DELHI (AP) — India's Shipping Ministry says 21 crew members of a merchant ship hijacked off the coast of Nigeria are safe after naval forces in that area rescued them.
A ministry statement seen Friday said there were one Ukrainian and 20 Indian crew members on board the Norwegian-flagged MV Spar Rigel.
It said pirates attacked the ship on Tuesday and the crew locked themselves into a saferoom on board until help arrived.
It didn't say which country's navy came to their rescue. No other details were available.
