Revolutionary program advances existing medical documentation professionals in their careers within just six months
Lake Havasu City, Ariz (PRWEB) October 31, 2011
An expanding field in medical documentation, medical coding is perfect for professionals who prefer to work “behind the scenes.” Requiring those who are detail-oriented, accurate and efficient, medical coding positions yield high salaries and require many of the same skills used by existing medical documentation professionals.
Designed to quickly and efficiently teach professionals the skills required for medical coding, Med-Line's Coding Bridge Program takes a unique approach to training. Instead of training the basics, the program identifies the skills health care documentation professionals already possess and fills in the gaps required for the new field. The training prepares existing medical documentation professionals for medical coding within just six months.
"The program is designed with working health care professionals in mind," said Chad Sines, MS, MBA, AHDI-F, Director of Admissions for Med-Line School of Medical Transcription. "They don't have time to waste, and they already possess many of the skills required. This program builds on what they already know, helping them advance to the next step in their careers."
Health care documentation plays a vital role in the health care industry, and medical coding as continuing education is a natural career path for individuals with previous health care documentation training. According to the latest from the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in the medical record and health information technician field is poised to grow much faster than the average. Projected to grow by a staggering 20 percent over the next seven years, the field is rapidly growing due to an aging population, and medical coding is at the forefront of that expansion.
"The staggering expansion in this field is bringing many needed jobs to the U.S. economy," said Sines. "The field is flexible, with many working from home, and medical documentation professionals already have most of the required skills. Couple this with a higher pay, and you have the perfect next step in their careers."
Med-Line School was founded in 1990 in order to develop health care documentation experts capable of meeting changing industry challenges. Med-Line has been approved by the Approval Committee for Certificate Program (ACCP), a joint committee established by AHDI and AHIMA for certifying and approving medical transcription education programs.
