EECP® Programs To Coordinate Activities in Recognition of American Heart Month
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) January 20, 2012
The IETA has requested that EECP® centers worldwide make a unified statement in support of their EECP® therapy facilities by hosting events and activities during this week that will increase the awareness of patients and physicians about EECP® therapy. Suggested activities and events include local press releases and media contact, educational meetings presenting information on EECP® therapy and other topics of interest to cardiovascular patients, physicians and other healthcare professionals, scheduled visits by local politicians, invitations for an open house, free blood pressure screening, blogs, videos, EECP® patient reunions and other suggestions that will make EECP® therapy and the dedicated physicians, therapists and centers that are committed to improving patient outcomes and their quality of life.
Louanne Tempich, RN, CET, the President of the International EECP® Therapists Association stated that “we expect this first celebration of International EECP® Therapy Week, in recognition of American Heart Month, to become an annual event, helping more patients and physicians become aware of EECP® therapy and how it can help them eliminate or relieve the symptoms of angina and heart failure, enabling them to lead fuller, more productive lives, non-invasively”.
The IETA was established in 2000 by a group of dedicated EECP® therapists and supervisors to share their collective knowledge and experience in providing EECP® therapy, a relatively new technology at the time, in order to ensure the highest possible patient benefits and safety, as well as increase the operational success of their centers. IETA membership has grown over the past 12 years both in the U.S. and overseas. Both U.S. Medical Director, Dr. Joseph Tartaglia and Dr. Subramanian Ramasamy, the International Medical Director, have been involved in providing EECP® therapy to patients for over 15 years and been involved in controlled clinical trials demonstrating the safety and efficacy of EECP® therapy that have been published in peer reviewed medical journals.
