    The International School of Hospitality Outreaches to Latin America and Spain via Membership in CONPEHT

    Las Vegas-based hospitality school joins CONPEHT, the Confederation of Pan American Hotel, Gastronomy and Tourism Schools, to expand reach of practical hospitality certificates and diplomas for international students.

    The International School of Hospitality (TISOH) in Las Vegas, Nevada today announced that it has joined CONPEHT, the Confederation of Pan American Hotel, Gastronomy and Tourism Schools. TISOH is the only US-based member educational institution of this organization. For more than twenty years, CONPEHT, represented by all Latin American schools including Spain seeks to provide the tools and skills necessary to develop and sustain excellence in hospitality, gastronomy and tourism. “The mission of The International School of Hospitality supports CONPEHT’s goals and made it the perfect choice as a resource for education outside of our region,” explained Professor Yamel Moises Garza, MBA who is presently instructing at Universidad Anahuac in Mexico.

    The International School of Hospitality (TISOH) was founded in 2005 by professors from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The school offers practical, short-term hospitality training programs. Along with class instruction, most courses include site visits and externships. The school curriculum includes conference management and event planning, meeting & event catering, event design & production, hospitality leadership and supervision, wedding coordination and design, the art of concierge, art of food and beverage, hotel operations and hospitality human resources. Students may elect to study on site or online. The school is also an Academic Partner of the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.

    The school’s relationship with Latin American countries began four years ago when Professor Yamel Moises Garza wanted a comprehensive educational program in hospitality that was practical and current. Through her Internet searches, Professor Moises came upon The International School of Hospitality.

    She boarded a plane and went to Las Vegas to visit the school. “I was so impressed by the administration and the course offerings that I enrolled in the Conference Management & Event Planning program,” recalls Professor Moises. “Then last summer I brought a group of 20 students to the school. All of them successfully completed their studies and graduated with certificates in Meeting & Event Catering.”

    The professor continues to work closely with TISOH Executive Director, Timothy Lam to integrate the school’s courses with university and CONPEHT hospitality programs throughout Latin America and Spain. TISOH programs for the international market work in several ways. One option is with 5-week FASTtrack classroom sessions in Las Vegas. Another option is with online learning modules, culminating with a one-to-two week visit to Las Vegas where students take part in discussions with industry leaders, make on-site visits, complete any required portfolios, take their final exams, and participate in graduation ceremonies. Lam explained the second option of TISOH programs: “We developed our hybrid model of learning to make it easier for foreign students to supplement their academic learning by earning our certificates and executive diplomas. Being able to learn online and come to Las Vegas to complete these programs gives them the practical education for which TISOH is known.”

    This summer international students are expected to join certificate programs in Wedding Coordination & Design and Meeting and Event Catering from June 17 through June 30. In addition, there will be a program during the last week in June for a one-week study with site visits to become American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute Certified Restaurant Managers.
