Iowa GOP worried by hacker threat to caucus vote

    • 105opt  •  Charlotte, North Carolina  •  4 mths ago
Corruption at the highest level. With corrupt government...you will always have fraud!
    • Rat Fink McRoy  •  5 mths ago
Why are any voting machines or databases used for tallying and storing vote totals connected to any type of network? You are just asking for trouble. Everything used in voting should be standalone. It may take a little longer, but it ensures integrity of the vote.
      • Eric 5 mths ago
That's the logical answer Rat. They won't do that because they need to have as many excuses an smoke screens as possible when they rig elections.
      • anything but libs 5 mths ago
You two got problems reading correctly. Only the transfer to the press is over the internet.
      • Dave 5 mths ago
You answered your own question. There is no integrity in politics.
    • James  •  Chicago, United States  •  5 mths ago
All electronic voting machines can be hacked or rigged to changed results. They have almost no safeguards in place. Always vote with paper if you have the choice.
      • Tracee 5 mths ago
And you can bet Obama and his people will probably pull this stunt because he knows he's not going to be re-elected.
      • James 5 mths ago
Way to make a issue that all Americans can and should rally behind, and make it partisan.

You're a huge part of the problem.
      • A Yahoo! User 5 mths ago
Many Americans are suspicious of voting machines because a voting machine can be tampered with and there is little minute by minute supervision of its internal working. There is little ability to trace the ballot cast back to the exact individual who cast as far as I know.
    • Aaron  •  5 mths ago
Why even use a computer system attached to the internet? I mean come on...
    • DSE  •  Columbia, United States  •  5 mths ago
Electronic machines are a threat to democracy, since the only record s stored in a machine, where it can be altered . At least a paper ballot is a PHYSICAL thing that can be held when counted.
      • ........ 5 mths ago
Why didn't you blame Obama? That is what the GOP does afterall.
      • GA 5 mths ago
Obama has done nothing and blames his ineptness on everyone else.
      • PatsyB 5 mths ago
Nothing except eliminate Osama bin Laden and the architects of the Cole and 9/11 attacks, provide for tens of thousands of young people to be able to obtain health insurance, restore much of America's good reputation among other nations, and begin to make progress on the economic disaster he walked into.
    • Barnabas Collins  •  5 mths ago
Well, this is what happens when we trust computers to manage everything for us. This is just the tip if the iceberg.
    • Chuck W  •  Philadelphia, United States  •  5 mths ago
Want to eliminate fraud? Get away from the computerized voting machines that can be rigged. Use physical vote cards with signature and thumbprint. The Iraqi people use this system. Problem solved.
      • Mike Hunt 5 mths ago
That's stupid, how is anyone supposed to rig the vote if we do that?
      • Hey You 5 mths ago
Iraq, that incorruptible bastion of freedom and democracy?
      • Dark Coleus 5 mths ago
Yes, because there was no election fraud before computers.
    • Adam  •  5 mths ago
Going to electronic voting is the worst idea of the century.
      • Keith Maupin 5 mths ago
Not to those who use them to cheat, as the GOP has been doing. They cry and whine about ACORN while they manipulate thousands of voting machines to give false results in their favor.
      • Jim 5 mths ago
It was a bad idea for freedom loving people. But a great idea for the Ruling Elites to manipulate things. And of course it gives the infantile followers of the Democrat/Republican paradigm an excuse to point the finger at the other in their childish stupor, thinking one big government, warfare/welfare fascist party matters over another.
    • Joshua  •  Philadelphia, United States  •  5 mths ago
We need to go back to paper ballots and many impartials observers present at all times to watch the ballot boxes. This electronic voting thing is a sham and has stolen our voting rights. Voting isn't supposed to be convenient, it's supposed to count.
    • 9tailfox  •  5 mths ago
      Anyone smell a rat?
    • Goldbudus  •  5 mths ago
Of course, they will be struggling to explain to the world how George W. Bush won the 2012 Iowa Caucuses.
    • B Free  •  5 mths ago
The main ones I am concerned about 'hacking' the caucus are the GOP establishment themselves.

So when Ron Paul has a runaway victory, will it be blamed on hackers now? Gimme a break. They need to save some of their excuses for the rest of his caucus and primary wins, and stop using them all on Iowa don't you think?

This is not a progressive vs. conservative thing. It is a criminal threat. Don't these miscreants realise they are attacking our rule by the people for the people. I am a progressive, but subverting any Americans right to be heard and counted is attacking our way of life. We don't want rule by dirty tricks any more than we want rule by police or military force.
    • إسماعيل ياسين  •  Irvine, United States  •  5 mths ago
Fear about reporting results? May I suggest using a telephone?
    • R_USA76  •  5 mths ago
That is why we need paper ballots to know to be sure the votes are counted honestly. Ban the electronic machines.
    • Arnold  •  5 mths ago
The establishment will attempt to disqualify Ron Paul for getting too many of the votes as they did with most of the polls that Ron Paul won. Meanwhile, the US accuses Russia of rigging their elections.
Ron Paul may be who the American people want, but the system that he threatens will not allow it.
    • J  •  Columbus, United States  •  5 mths ago
You can't hack paper. Maybe its the Government getting ready to hack the database. Maybe they are scared Ron Paul might actually win. Look at the headlines these last few days. Or maybe the voting machines in every primary will be hacked, causing a bunch of issues. Maybe they just might suspend elections until they get the issue resolved.
    • Rip The Jacker  •  5 mths ago
This is just a laying of the foundation to make sure that RON PAUL doesn''t win. If he wins fairly, they will claim a hacker had something to do with it. Its called desperation folks. The GOP is more worried that their hacker will lose the cyber match.
    • Smart Enough  •  Everett, United States  •  5 mths ago
Call diebold. Yeah the company that helped you guys out in Florida and Ohio. They are experts at this kind of thing. No need for a recount.
    • Marlene  •  5 mths ago
Why not a show of hands and a paper ballot and an EMAIL sent to the voters themselves to date stamp their votes. Video cameras of the show of hands for a measure of redundancy should keep them HONEST. Now I wouldn't be so sceptical of a acurate vote, but I know who has Reed Elsevier, you see they bought ChoicePoint, the company behind the election scandal in Florida, they are a foreign company with info on 200million Americans. Any bit of insurance for a fair election, is not too much!
