Iowa Poll Favors Republican Candidates for President

A Des Moines Register poll released Saturday gives indication that in at least one important Midwestern state, President Barack Obama would lose to three of four Republican nominee candidates. Texas Congressman Ron Paul would fair best if the general election was held today in Iowa.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at the Register poll.

51: Percent of the vote for Obama in a matchup against former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, who received 37 percent. Gingrich is viewed mostly unfavorable or very unfavorable by 65 percent of those polled.

49: Percent for Paul in a matchup against Obama, who received 42 percent.

48: Percent for former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in a matchup against Obama, who received 44 percent.

46: Percent for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in a matchup against Obama, who received 44 percent. Romney was viewed very or mostly favorable by 39 percent, while 51 percent viewed him as mostly or very unfavorable.

46: Percent approval rating and disapproval rating for Obama.

56: Percent approval rating for Obama on foreign affairs issues. His handling of the economy (38 percent), health care (36 percent) and budget deficit (33 percent) received worse ratings.

just change the title... " RON PAUL WINS"
      • Mark 3 mths ago
That's a good one! A yahoo article with a title like that will never happen. He could win the presidency and Yahoo would post "Obama temporarily is out of the White House."

      • Kathy 3 mths ago
The subsidies are higher in the great BLUE state, the home of Barack Hussein Obama and Chicago politics - Illinois. My corrupt home.
      • Gary 3 mths ago
You should move to an honest blue state - where you can vote for President Obama with a clear conscience

when you read this remember that Bachmann bought the Iowa Straw Poll win with $30 BBQ tickets. A few weeks later she came in 6th place at the caucus.

It's interesting that Ron Paul beats Obama by the largest margin. Apparently, beating Obama is not what's most important to most Republicans since they're not supporting Paul.
      • Chris 3 mths ago
You are right - it is their dumb ideology - packed with ideas that have never worked.

      So who endorsed Ron Paul?

Peter Schiff a few day ago strongly endorsed Ron Paul for President For those who don’t know who Peter Schiff is, Google “Peter Schiff was right” and learn who he is. Peter is the smartest man in Finance. He accurately predicted years in advance the coming of the housing bubble and early on analyzed the causes for it. There are clips on YouTube showing him getting laughed at by the Wall Street insiders on CNBC and CNN-FN and of course he turned out 100% correct and the Wall Street “experts” 100% wrong. I urge everyone to look up the video of Peter on YouTube and see for yourself Ron Paul 2012!

      Ron Paul 2012!
    • Yahoo User  •  3 mths ago
The Media can attempt to hide this all they want, but the truth is coming out
Ron Paul Surging: Robmoney is nose-diving ! Santorum just a head fake (or fake head)
Ron Paul’s 2012 vs. 2008 Primary results data:
      State……………..2008…….2012….…..Change
      Iowa………….......10%.........21%...........110% Increase
      New Hampshire…..8%.........23%...........187% Increase
      South Carolina……4%……..13%……….225% Increase
      Florida……………..3%………7%……….233% Increase
      Nevada……………14%…….19%………..36% Increase
      Colorado……………9%…….12%………..33% Increase
      Minnesota…………16%…….27%………..69% Increase
      Missouri…………….4%….....12%……….200% Increase
      Maine.……………..18%……..36%………100% Increase

Meanwhile, Romney is consistently getting lower percentage and lower absolute number of votes compared to 2008. This is what is scaring the GOP Establishment.
Ron Paul surge has been the best kept secret of this years’ election
That's why they want to call the primary over with less than 10% of the 2288 delegates still not assigned
    • FORWARD  •  3 mths ago
This is the same Iowa that could not run an honest caucus. And we should believe in them?
    • cuznvinny  •  Tampa, Florida  •  3 mths ago
wow, this is amazing...................their is a march on the white house right now from military past and present and no media coverage................why ...because they are marching for RON PAUL.
    • bluepeahen  •  3 mths ago
As a Ron Paul fan, these numbers look intriguing, but, I don't believe them.
Why didn't their caucus reflect these numbers?
The corrupt republican leadership in Iowa tried their hardest to throw the caucus to Romney.
      That didn't work.

If ONE MORE STATE tries to fudge the numbers, I will change my Republican registration.
    • Clementine  •  3 mths ago
Since Romney loves cars so much, toss him into a crate, throw it on top of a car, and drive him all around the USA, from campaign stop to campaign stop. Give the heartless creep a taste of his own medicine, in honor of poor Seamus.
