iPhone 6 Battery Size Suggests Slimmest iPhone Ever
Apple's much-anticipated iPhone 6 is expected to be the hardware giant's biggest iPhone yet, but based on new reports, it could also be the slimmest. According to new rumblings from Taiwan, the iPhone 6 could sport a shaved-down battery that would allow the flagship handset to become thinner than any previous model.
The report comes from Taiwan's Digitimes, which notes that the next iPhone's battery has a purported thickness of 2 millimeters, which is slimmer than the 3-millimeter battery found on all variations of the iPhone 5. Digitimes also notes that Samsung could be building an even thinner 1.65-millimeter battery cell, but that battery will likely take a while to hit the market.

A slimmer iPhone 6 is a win for style-minded consumers, but it certainly isn't making things easier for manufacturers. The report claims that Taiwan's component makers are "facing technological difficulties" when it comes to slimming down the smartphone's key parts.
This isn't the first time we've heard of production problems facing the next iPhone, which is expected to arrive in both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch variations. Previous reports have suggested that the larger modelcould be delayed until 2015, due to issues with building its rumored in-cell touch display.
The process of making the iPhone both larger and slimmer seems to be taking its toll on manufacturers, but at least one version of the iPhone 6 should arrive on time for the expected September release. Most rumors are pointing to a 4.7-inch arriving first with a fast A8 processor, new camera features and a highly durable sapphire crystal display.
