Whether this is just an educated guess or information that came from Apple is not clear, but the date falls in line with the iPhone maker's previous launches. The latest rumors indicate that the Cupertino-based company is planning to release two models of the next iPhone -- a 4.7-inch version and a larger 5.5-inch device. The larger handset is expected to be released later than the 4.7-inch one.

The next iPhone is expected to offer a slew of improvements, including NFC technology, a more powerful A8 processor, a super strong sapphire glass screen and and enhanced 10-MP camera.

The iPhone 6 will run iOS 8, the latest mobile OS that's expected to be unveiled June 2nd at Apple's WWDC event. iOS 8 will bring not only a focus on fitness and health but also possibly smart home functionality.
