iPhone 6s beats iPhone 6 Plus in battery life tests
One of the mantras of last year’s iPhone 6 reviews was that the iPhone 6 Plus was amazing when it comes to battery life, while the iPhone 6 had better battery life than predecessors but not necessarily enough to meet daily heavy usage needs. This year, the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have similar designs to Apple’s 2014 smartphone, but that doesn’t mean they have identical batteries.
In fact, on both devices, Apple had to use slightly smaller batteries as it needed extra space inside the phones to accommodate the taptic engine required for 3D Touch. However, battery life quotes remained exactly the same for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus on Apple’s site, suggesting there aren’t any reasons to worry about battery life. And fresh battery life tests seem to indicate exactly that.

According to Phone Arena’s battery life benchmark test, the battery life is very impressive on the iPhone 6s. The device’s battery lasted 8 hours and 15 minutes, beating similarly sized rivals, including the Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6, and HTC One M9. Only the Galaxy S6 Active and Xperia Z3 Compact lasted longer than the iPhone 6s.
Comparatively, the iPhone 6 lasted for 5 hours and 22 minutes in the same test, while the iPhone 6 Plus’s battery died after 6 hours and 32 minutes. In other words, the iPhone 6s is capable of beating the performance of last year’s iPhone 6 Plus – whose battery life was highly praised – in spite of having a smaller battery.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 6s Plus lasted 9 hours and 11 minutes in the same test. An image showing these battery life scores follows below.
