iPod Classic Running in a Browser Is a Tribute to Steve Jobs

Here's a fitting tribute to Steve Jobs on the one-year anniversary of his death: a working iPod Classic that runs in your browser. It's a work in progress by Inventika Solutions developer Pritesh Desai, who lovingly crafted this superb browser toy using HTML5, CSS3, and a few other tricks. It's lovely and brilliant.

Check out Desai's free iPod Classic browser demo, where you can spin the clickwheel to adjust the volume or scroll through a song, click on all its controls which react just as you'd expect, and enjoy the short playlist Desai included in this version. Although it won't let you load your own songs onto the iPod, the simulation lets you navigate to any song and play it, and it even shows you the current time and date, just like the real thing.

Desai has plans for further improvements, including adding a shuffle option as well as giving the clickwheel a subtle whirring sound when you spin it. He's even entertaining the idea of making the battery indicator look like it's run out the more you use it.
