Iran president says ready for final nuclear talks

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran's official IRNA news agency is quoting President Hassan Rouhani as saying his country is ready for final nuclear talks with world powers.

The Tuesday remarks came during a meeting with visiting Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt.

"We are fully ready for the final phase of talks and achieving their conclusion," IRNA quoted Rouhani as saying.

He said if the West is "honest and serious" then there is possibility of achieving agreement.

Iran and world powers are to begin new rounds of talks later in February after Tehran in November agreed to cap its nuclear program in return to easing sanctions by the West. The six-month agreement went into practice in January.

The West suspects Iran's nuclear program has military dimension, a charge Iran denies.
