BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi police say a car bomb has hit a major Shiite pilgrimage, killing 10 people on the last day of the commemorations for a revered imam.
The bombing comes days after a wave of 22 coordinated explosions earlier this week killed 72 pilgrims in what was among the worst attacks in Iraq since American troops withdrew six months ago.
A police official says Saturday's car bomb exploded just after noon in a Shiite neighborhood in northern Baghdad. He says 10 people were killed in the blast and 35 were wounded. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information.
