    IRS revokes US Slavery Museum's tax-exempt status

    RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The U.S. Slavery Museum has lost its federal tax-exempt status.

    The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/ztQGlq ) the museum was added Wednesday to a list of organizations that have had their federal tax-exempt status revoked by the Internal Revenue Service.

    The move means the Fredericksburg, Va., museum envisioned by former Gov. L. Douglas Wilder can't receive tax-deductible charitable contributions.

    Nonprofit groups must file a return or notice annually to the IRS. The IRS revokes a nonprofit's tax-exempt status if it fails to file for three consecutive years. The museum last filed a federal return in 2007.

    The IRS says organizations may apply to regain their tax-exempt status.

    The museum is in chapter 11 bankruptcy while it reorganizes its $7 million debt.

      Good.

      Now just revoke the rest of the tax exempt status for all the others. There's no reason, no matter the cause, for any organization to be exempt from taxes. They need to pay their fair share, too.

      How about abolishing the Income Tax? All these problems would go away without being 18% or 28% or whatever slave.
      The IRS has more information about us than the CIA. Don't worry - they promise to keep all your information confidential.

      I'm shocked....this story was published yesterday and we haven't heard from those two domestic terrorists, Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, playing the expected "black card" and how White America is trying to beat down the oppressed and underprivileged???       There was no such thing as slavery - as evidenced by the fact that the slavery museum is bankrupt and no one is interested in helping it stay afloat - you can't argue with facts
