LONDON (AP) — LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and David Robinson are part of an exclusive Olympic club that may never have another member.
They're the only U.S. men's basketball players to compete in three Olympics — and with a potential age-limit rule change looming, maybe the last ones.
James says it's a humbling achievement. Not that anyone could have predicted it.
Anthony and James were outcasts at the Athens Games. James can hardly hide his disgust with his role, or lack thereof, whenever asked about 2004. Anthony says that's when USA Basketball was "just trash."
Now they want to be like Robinson, who followed up his bronze medal finish in 1988 with gold medal performances in 1992 and 1996. James and Anthony have bronze medals from 2004 and won gold in 2008.
