Jennifer Lawrence Might Quit Playing Mystique, And She Has A Pretty Good Reason

Jennifer Lawrence is currently the world’s most popular actress. There’s really no arguing that. As such she can really pick and choose her roles in whatever fashion she wants.

And having played Mystique in ‘X-Men: First Class’ and ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’, you could understand if she decided that she’d now had enough of portraying the bendy, blue-skinned super-villain to concentrate on different roles.

But it turns out there is actually a more serious reason why the Oscar-winning actress might not want to portray Mystique anymore. She’s fed up of breathing in the toxins and fumes that come hand in hand with the blue paint she needs to wear in order to play the character.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Lawrence admitted that she’s still not sure if she will carry on with her ‘X-Men’ role after ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, before then explaining why there is one big reason she might not.

“Now I’m almost 25 and I’m like, ‘I can’t even pronounce this and that’s going in my nose? I’m breathing that?’,” she said when quizzed about her makeup.

Jennifer Lawrence originally portrayed Mystique in 2011’s ‘X-Men: First Class’ and 2014’s ‘X-Men: Days Of Future Past’, while her contract with the series will come to an end with next summer’s ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

Lawrence, who has repeatedly talked about how infuriating it is to be covered in the character’s make-up while shooting these films, had previously confirmed that ‘Apocalypse’ would be her last ‘X-Men’ effort.

However, during her most recent interview, Lawrence noted that she might be tempted to return for another ‘X-Men’ effort, but insisted that her future will be worked out a later date. Hopefully, if she does agree to stay on, they’ll have figured out a more humane way to turn her into the character.
