    JetBlue to add flights between Fla., Puerto Rico

    NEW YORK (AP) — JetBlue Airways Corp. said Tuesday it will add two more daily flights between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., starting next May.

    The additions will bring JetBlue's total flights between the two cities to six per day.

    From San Juan, JetBlue currently offers service to Boston; New York; Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Tampa, Fla.; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. On Thursday, it will start daily nonstop jet service to St. Maarten. Then on Dec. 12, JetBlue will add daily nonstop service to both St. Croix and St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Service to Hartford, Conn., will start Jan. 5.

    The airline has expanded its flights to and from the Caribbean, where other airlines have pulled back over the past several years. JetBlue says it now has a two-pronged approach to growth: trying to court higher-paying business travelers in Boston and those visiting friends and relatives in the Caribbean. It's keeping the number of flights elsewhere relatively flat.

    Shares of the New York-based airline fell 5 cents in midday trading to $3.97.

      I wish they would add something from myrtle beach to san juan, puerto . Costa rica.,to go to the these places you must go to florence ,s.c then the opposite way to charlotte, nc then to ft lauderdale to domin republic or costa rica. I have a friend in willis texas who can go to these places straight there in half the time it takes me to go to the costa rica or domin republic.
