JetVideo Basic VX review

JetVideo Basic VX has a lot of features and plays nearly every kind of media file. Its default layout displays a lot of useful controls but can also be minimized or customized. JetVideo strikes a good balance between basic freeware media players and complicated open-source players with everything but the kitchen sink, though we'd like to see more audio options.

Pros

Functions: JetVideo not only plays media files but also plays, rips, and burns Audio CDs, records system audio, converts files, and more.

Features: Tools and extras include Speed controls, Sound Effects like X-Bass and Crossfade, an equalizer with many presets, Full Screen Adjust settings, an Aspect Ratio menu, and Subtitle Options.

Take control: Feature fans will appreciate JetVideo's control suite, including onscreen controls for quickly resizing the display, a Capture button, and Always on Top, Extended Controls, and Playlist toggles.

Cons

Missing codecs: You'll have to download and install a codec pack to play some video and audio tracks.

Closing playlist: Closing out the Playlist closes the whole program instead of just the Playlist, which must be closed from the main interface.

Ad viewer: The Information Viewer mostly displays ads.

Audio: Significant audio features like 32-bit output and DRC aren't active in the free player.

Bottom Line

JetVideo Basic VX is a good performer with plenty of useful features. Though we wish it offered more audio options, it's a nice fit between too-basic and too-complex competitors.
