    Jolie: nervous, excited about premiere in Bosnia

    BERLIN (AP) — Angelina Jolie says she's nervous and excited about the upcoming premiere in Sarajevo of her Bosnian war movie "In the Land of Blood and Honey."

    The film, which is showing at the Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday, is set to make its full debut in the Bosnian capital on Feb. 14, though it already has been shown to some groups there.

    Already released in the U.S., Jolie's directorial debut is a drama about a Serb soldier who finds his ex-lover, a Muslim Bosnian woman, among sex slaves in a camp.

    "I'm nervous and I'm excited," Jolie said of the Bosnian premiere. "I'll probably cry through the entire thing."

    "I'll be very, very moved because, of course, a lot of the people coming are the victims of war so it's going to be heavy," she added.

    Jolie, 36, said that "it didn't take much for me to be driven" while directing the film, noting that her cast lived through the 1992-95 war in Bosnia.

    Actress Vanesa Glodjo, she said, crossed Sarajevo's "Sniper Alley" — named after the heavy fire by sharpshooters that made it notoriously dangerous — daily to get to her theater school.

    "Art meant that much to her that she risked her life every day," Jolie said. "The privilege you feel to have the opportunity to work with such a dedicated and such an extraordinary human being made it all ... just wonderful."

    Glodjo said that Jolie "gave me the words and opportunity to express what I lived during the war."

    Jolie's film is showing outside the main competition at the Berlin festival.

    The film has triggered outrage among Serbs although it has yet to be premiered in Serbia and the Serb-controlled parts of Bosnia. Authorities rejected a request by some Serb war veterans' organizations to ban the film because of alleged anti-Serb bias.

    Jolie stressed during a press conference at the festival Saturday that "this is not a documentary ... it's an artistic interpretation."

    "I tried to bring as much as I could but there are many different sides to war, many different sides to this war," she said.

    "This was this particular story, but there are many different stories to be told in this war and many different ways to tell the story of this war."

      I can't blame her for not being informed well...Powerful countries presented to the audience what they wanted to be seen...Thanks God that Angelina wants to hear Serbian people..yes, Serbian people are revolted only because of the fact that they are presented as bad ones, all world considers only serbians guilty in these wars, but the truth is that Serbians lived there on these theritories...Croatians, Muslims-they wanted ethnicaly clear country...clear from Serbian people...but at least she has a chance to hear the truth by herself...and who knows...maybe her next movie will present Serbians as they really are...Angelina GO FOR IT...
      p.s. one big irony in all this is that when Croatia an Bosnia wanted ethnicaly "clear"country from Serbs-they acctually got it...and when Serbians wanted-not ethnicaly "clear"Kosovo-but Kosovo that actually belongs to Serbia-with all nations that lived there, all country was bombed, and finally a part of Serbia is given to Albanians...NOT TO MENTION THE DAMAGE DONE TO FAMILLIES,WHO LOST THEIR MEMBERS, BURNED HOMES,CHILDREN THAT ARE ORPHANS NOW...And not even one person even thinks about-how much others owe to them...not only material things...but things considering the truth..they will live all their lifes knowing that they lost everything, that they lost kids, or parents, or friends..and that these sacrifices were not worth of mentioning...by the WEST

      I think that it's a good thing that the media is simmering down on this family. This film was written to make people aware of the hardships other people have to endure just to stay alive and feel love. Where is the compassion of our people? We are AMERICANS and should be proud of our fellow americans who represent compassion for other contries and cultures.

        & what is that? not liking someone always always stem from envy, jealousy. Take a step back and let your mind open to reveal that fact. Y do u not like someone....can b many reasons, mainly 1) they have something u want [admit that or not] (2) they trigger something in u that u r not facing up 2. Do some research on words especially the ones u used 'jealousy and not liking someone' the latter = hate, bitter, contempt etc.

      I am proud someone care and brave to help the helpless to voice their horrible experience on post war. She is right! why we have to wait longer to reach million being slaughter,before acting to stop such atrocity. If a leader can't provide safety of his people,most step down in their position. We have the UN to make policy and laws to avoid upraising and war in a peaceful ways. Her film bring awareness to the whole world,specially to the rights and dignity of human being who are the victim. Bless you Ms. Jolie for your compassion to this people.

        Hmm...How odd this is...I had Serbian refugees, and no one even mention all the crimes done to Serbian people there...If you ever had history as a school subject you should know that all Slavs came from East of Europe, and they settled down in Balkan area...You should also know that when Christianity came-all these slavs had the same religion...also after separating Christianity to Orthodox and Catholoics-Slavs that lived in western part of Balkan became Catholics and the rest kept Orthodox religion...Then when the Turks came to Bosnian area-they made people by force become muslims...So names are changed, religion are changed Ilija became Halil, Milos became Mujo etc....It is well known why west did not want strong Komunist country like ex Yugoslavia....Yugoslavia was Comunist paradise on earth...everyone had job, social security, school was free, health insurance, medicines...But the west was waiting TITO to die, so they could destroy such a comunist country-just to prove the world that comunism is evil...and they did it...now-in all these countries people have hardly 300$ salary per month...there are beggers on the streets-which this ex Yugoslavia never had...Serbian people are demonized by powerfull countries and they are presented as bad nation...Have you ever considered that during world war II Serbian people were killed in Camps like Jasenovac-over 800 000 women, kids, young and old people...???Have you ever consider that also during these wars in Croatia and Bosnia, and after on Kosovo there lived over 2 million Serbs there..They all became refugees thanks to you WEST! So who are you to judge Serbian people???Who are you to demonize all nation and to present only one nation as bad one, and not to consider serbian victims too??? Who are you to give Kosovo to Albanians??You gave Serbian History, Culture, Churches to Albanians...search youtube-just to see how they climb the churches and how they destroy them-taking cross from the top of it...Ask ex victims what they did to Serbian people there. Ask parents how their kids were killed on their way to school...Ask also family members of those who died in Camps, ask them about their members...My grandfather died after WWII from the consenquences from those Camps...Do you think that i will keep silent???No, as long as i'm alive, i will spread the truth about all genicide done to Serbian people through history...In first world war, second world war, and these wars in Croatia, Bosnia, and on Kosovo...Serbia was even bombed because it did not want to give up something that belongs to Serbian people...Be happy that Serbian people defended from Austro-Hungarians...Be happy that Serbian people were defending from Othoman Empire....Who knows in which country you would live today if serbian people did not defend their own country from them...Who knows how WWII would end if serbian people did not fight the nazis...You only see one side of the story-when you have interes on that...Stop blaming Serbians-orthodox nation...You should learn by now that Orthodox Christianity means Love & Peece! You should learn so far, that Orthodox Countries were never conquerors!!! Which i can't say about other nations....Who killed Indians in America...??Who made black people slaves???Who made African countries as colonies???Who???Serbian people maybe..Shame on you west politicians!!!!How dare you judge even one nation, and you actiually live in countries that made the biggest crimes in History, by conquering, by colonizing, by deciding who is the right and who is not right???       I was truly touched by Jolie's words about a war that happened so far from her home country. Bosnia war is still barely referred in Europe's recent history and it is important to draw attention to it. So, I congratulate Angeline for being brave enough to choose this subject for her first film as a director! And I intend to watch it...:-)

      Like Bosnia wants to watch a movie of the whole war that took place back in 1991. They lived it and what is Angie thinking? I am sorry but people in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Kosovo are still remembering all of that stuff.
