Jon Stewart rips Huckabee's gay marriage argument

'No one is forcing you to get metaphorically married to the biblical abomination that is this bacon-wrapped shrimp'

Mike Huckabee has been giving Jon Stewart an awful lot of material lately.

On Monday's "Daily Show," Stewart skewered recent comments the former Arkansas governor and likely 2016 Republican presidential candidate made about gay marriage.

In an interview with CNN over the weekend, Huckabee said there's no chance he will ever accept same-sex unions — whether he runs for president or not.

"This is not just a political issue," he said. "It is a biblical issue. And as a biblical issue — unless I get a new version of the Scriptures, it's really not my place to say, 'OK, I'm just going to evolve.'"

Asking a Christian to accept same-sex marriage, Huckabee added, is "like asking someone who's Jewish to start serving bacon-wrapped shrimp in their deli."

“Not all Jews own a deli,” Stewart said Monday. “Some of us, and I say this with respect, some of us are lawyers who represent deli owners.

“That analogy makes no f---ing sense,” the "Daily Show" host continued. “No one is forcing you to get metaphorically married to the biblical abomination that is this bacon-wrapped shrimp.”

Stewart also took aim at Huckabee's criticism of "trashy" New York women who drop "F-bombs" in the workplace.

“The worst thing a Southern businesswoman might say is ‘fudge.’ And then she would probably offer you a plate of fudge,” Stewart said, referencing Paula Deen. “Oh wait, unless, wait, I’m sorry. Is the N-word a curse? Or is that more just a tradition?”

Last month Huckabee appeared on "The Daily Show," where he sparred with Stewart over Beyoncé and rocker-cum-gun rights activist Ted Nugent.

“Beyoncé is such a megatalent,” Huckabee said, echoing a passage in his new book, “God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy." “She can do anything. ... She’s got the pipes to sing. She’s got the moves to dance. She doesn’t have to be vulgar in order to set the trend.”

Huckabee, a former Fox News host, recently criticized President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama for allowing their daughters, Sasha and Malia, to listen to Beyoncé, whose lyrics he described in the book as “toxic mental poison.”

“The thing that disturbs me when you see Beyoncé, who is a role model to young girls — young girls want to be like her,” Huckabee continued. “Do you know any parent who has a daughter who says, ‘Honey, if you make really good grades, someday when you’re 12 or 13, we’ll get you your own stripper pole’? C’mon, Jon.”

Stewart then played a clip of Huckabee performing “Cat Scratch Fever” — a song full of suggestive sexual metaphors — with Nugent on Fox News.

“That ain’t about bacteria," Stewart quipped. “Do you see my point? You excuse that type of crudeness because you agree with his stance on firearms.”
