Joseph Kosinski Eyes Adaptation of Videogame ‘Gran Turismo’ at Sony

“Oblivion” helmer Joseph Kosinski is in talks to direct the adaptation of the popular videogame “Gran Turismo” for Sony.

Dana Brunetti, Josh Bratman, DeVon Franklin and Elizabeth Cantillon are producing with Michael De Luca, who will remain on as a producer even though he currently holds the co-president of production post at Sony. De Luca originally brought the project to the studio and will oversee it along with Matt Milam.

Plot details are unknown at this time. Alex Tse penned the original draft, but it is unknown if Kosinski will use that draft.

The “Tron: Legacy” helmer has been trying to get his hands on a project that involved racing for some time. At Fox he had been developing “Go Like Hell,” which tells the true story of the battle between Ford and Ferrari to win Le Mans in 1966. Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise had been circling “Go Like Hell,” but the project could not come together. Kosinski moved off the film, but still had the taste to tackle the genre, and the “Gran Turismo” adaptation affords him that opportunity.

Kosinski last directed “Oblivion” with Cruise. He is repped by CAA.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported the news.
