‘Joule’ Bracelet Drip Feeds Caffeine Into Your Bloodstream All Day Long

A new bracelet has been designed to automatically deliver caffeine into the wearer’s bloodstream throughout the day.

Named after a unit of energy, the ‘Joule Caffeine Bracelet’ is packed with a transdermal caffeine patch, which works in a similar way to a nicotine patch.

The idea is that a constant supply of caffeine throughout the day will help the wearer to avoid mood swings, energy slumps and blood sugar problems.

Each patch has roughly the same amount of caffeine as a medium cup of coffee and lasts for a day. Each does of caffeine last approximately 4 hours.

A new patch can then be swapped into the silicone wristband.

Caffeine is released gradually through the user’s skin as their body heat melts away the thin layers of formulation embedded in the patch.

The makers claim that the wearable can be used in addition to the user’s normal beverages, or can be used as a substitute to help those trying to cut back on their caffeine intake

The gadget is currently seeking cash on crowdfunding site Indiegogo and has already reached more than 40 per cent of its $15,000 (£10,300) goal with 29 days left for backers to make their pledges.

Joule has an estimated delivery time of July 2016 and costs $29 (£20) for a starter pack that includes 30 days’ worth of replacement patches. Additional packs cost $27 (£19) each.
