    Judge hears final arguments in Globes TV dispute

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — A federal judge says it will take him some time to decide the fate of a disputed deal keeping the Golden Globe Awards on NBC through 2018.

    U.S. District Judge A. Howard Matz listened Friday as attorneys for the Globes' organizers and its longtime producers made final arguments to try to sway his ruling.

    The Hollywood Foreign Press Association wants the $150 million deal invalidated, arguing that dick clark productions negotiated it without permission.

    The company claims a 1993 agreement allows it to produce the glitzy gala for as long as it airs on NBC.

    HFPA attorney Daniel Pertrocelli likened the arrangement to the producers enslaving the association. Attorney Marty Katz argued that the group is trying to nullify the deal and cut dick clark productions out of the profits.

      Cry me a river all you Hollywood losers! Who cares about any of your "I Love Me" award shows anyway. Since the selections have been made more because of Political Correctness instead of actual achievement, I've given up on you clowns. Take it elsewhere and give me the People's Choice Awards only!!

        As if the Peoples choice award is worth watching. . . .

        Why don't they go back to the days when none of these award shows were televised. Let these people have the moments of glory and let it all be reported on the news.
        These awards shows just take time away from the REAL television line-ups.

      If not for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association there would be no Golden Globes. They are the voters and nominators for this award, and it should remain in their control. I respect Dick Clark but I don't know how much he's involved in the company that bears his name these days. They may produce the show, but they are not the reason for the awards show. I'm so sick of corporate greed and power! It taints everything it touches. And we are the ones who lose.

        They said that Dick Clark is not longer owner, so I doubt he has much to do with the production company at all.Let them just eliminate ALL the award shows. . . .that way we don't have to see Kanye West making an #$%$ of himself again; we don't have to pretend to like the fact that the cable stations have taken over (some people don't even have those channels), that the deserving shows aren't being recognized; then we don't have to see scarecrows like angeli jolie (or whatever her name is) in the public eye, we don't have to listen to the inane chatter about who's dress was a hit and who's was a miss; We don't have to deal with all the #$%$ that is a hollywood "star" every again.Do like they used to do - have the awards "dinners", then let the stations report anything that might be newsworthy - cause someone winning an oscar or a golden globe or an emmy or an ACM or CMA, or grammy or peoples choice (now aren't they jokes) are definitely NOT NEWSWORTHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
