Judge orders Sheen wages docked for child support

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge has ordered Charlie Sheen's former bosses to garnish $55,000 a month for child support from any payments they make to the former "Two and a Half Men" star.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Hank Goldberg on Friday approved a request by Brooke Mueller Sheen to garnish any payments Warner Bros. Television makes to her ex-husband.

The former couple was divorced on May 2, about two months after Warner Bros' fired Sheen from "Men." The actor and the studio have been fighting over payments ever since.

The hefty monthly payments are intended to support the Sheens' twin sons and were part of a divorce settlement they reached earlier this year.

The actor's spokesman Larry Solters declined to comment. Brooke Sheen's attorney did not immediately return a phone message.

Shoot, my brother was paying his wife $55K a month, and he doesn't make nearly the amount of money Charlie Sheen does.

$55,000.00 a month child support? Most families in the US don't see that in a year in this economy. When are we going to stop making idols of actors and actresses? So they are good at make believe. In Shakespear's day, actors were at the bottom of the heap. This amount shows how out of touch Hollywood is.

You clearly have either never been married, had kids...or faced child support. It is all based upon the salary of the spouse. You're probably unemployed or a truck driver...you obviously will never look 55k per month in child support! That's what the really rich deal with...don't worry!

I was commenting on the fact that actors are overpaid and over idolized. Believe me, I know what it costs to raise a family. I am married with four raised children (all gainfully employed with children of their own). My husband has a CPA practice and I have a bookkeeping service for attorneys. We own our own home. We put our kids through private school to get them each a decent education. $55,000.00 a month is a life style of the over indulged.

        . .

Actors are paid what they are becasue networks make money off of commercials. stop buying Pepsi and McDonalds and maybe they will stop running commercials. I feel dumn even responding to you.

can you imagine it? 55K 'a month'??????? Thats more than my husband makes a year in construction business.

it isn't the money that raises the kids, it is the love, stability and nurturing, and I don't think they will ever get that. Most celebrity kids grow up more messed up than their parents and that is so tragic

Oh please, 55,000 is RIDICULOUS. I am all for him paying child support but no one needs that much money a month!
      • Caliday 10 mths ago
Better the kids get the money now before he snorts it all away!
      • william 10 mths ago
there should really be a limit on child support payments

when someone marries someone rich and famous, the Judge will allow them and the children to live in the style they were accustomed to. If it's in the judgement, she will have to put away a percent in an account for their futures. Sheesh, I couldn't get my ex to pay a measly $240.00 a month back in the 80's

"$55,000 a month for child support": This is simply alimony. It takes NO child that much to be "supported".
      • Melody A 10 mths ago
Child support is tallied by percentage of what the parents earn to keep up the lifestyle the child is used to living in. If the man is required to pay that much a month, think how much he actually makes! It's a drop in the bucket to him either way and we all know that! But heck, that's more than most American "blue collar" workers make in a year! WOW... married the wrong guy did we ladies?
      • Don B 10 mths ago
It's "tallied' wrong and is nothing more than alimony. However with "no fault divorce" laws, they can't call it that. "It is what it is."
      • a.reader 10 mths ago
Child support ends when the kids are out of college. So, unless there's a separate alimony agreement, she gets nothing after the kids are grown.

I would assume that part of the monthly payments goes to college funds and to pay any current school tuition.

Would the court make her show receipts that prove the money is being spent on the children (or being put in a trust for them) or is she free to spend that money on herself? Just wondering. It would seem his attorneys should be able to ask for audits periodically to demonstrate that the entire 55K is either receipts for child expenses or deposits into their account----and not a charge card for Coach purses and Tiffany jewelry. By the way, he's a jerk, but I think it's important that the money be 100% for the children (assuming she has separate alimony arranged).

Welcome to American Court System. It is based on what the individual made that year. Irregardless of what it should cost to raise a child it is based off what you made. THEN add daycare and Health care. He is lucky because he can afford it. I was laid off but still have to come up with the money or i will be thrown in jail and my face on the electronic billboard off of I-77 for all to see with a caption saying - DEADBEAT DAD. Welcome to America. Land of the slaves.

Wow! A no talent overpaid Actor who never really did anything to deserve the money he gets who has to give money to a woman who never really did anything for the money she get. just the story I want to read after a day working for pennies at the salt mine...

$55,000 a month in child support??? Whatever you think of Charlie Sheen that is insane!!!! Even $55,000 a year would be ridiculous!!!
    • Rico  •  10 mths ago
These rules about the money for Child Support and Alimony are such a joke. 55K for child support, that is more than most people earn in a year. So this would mean she needs to supply the same amount of money since children are from both parents, so this kid costs 110K a year? Sounds like Momma is living good for doing nothing but spreading her legs.
    • Syanis  •  10 mths ago
This is retarded. I agree with child support but no child needs $55k a month and if the spouse didn't have her own income after divorce she doesn't deserve a regular allowance after the base settlement.
    • Sherri M  •  10 mths ago
Here's an idea: Charlie pay half of his kids needs per month, Brooke gets a job and pays the other half! AND ,she supports herself! AND, she provides a home for her kids! Ohhh. I forgot. She's just another twit with no skills or talent or ability. I'm no Sheen fan, but that is beyond ridiculous.
    • DD  •  10 mths ago
$55k/mo is the maximum they can take. I remember this coming up before a few years ago, it may be different now. He was making around $1.6+ mil per episode. It has nothing to do with what it costs to raise a kid. Just the courts diso-master program. Which depends mostly on who has physical custody and the differences in their wages.
    • Lou C  •  10 mths ago
This is complete bull. He has always been ontime with his payments. There is no reason to doc his pay like this. If he was constantly late or behind sure go ahead but that is not the case. And seriouslly 55k to raise two kids a month. That is rediculous. That is more then most people make in a year.
    • Ramsey  •  10 mths ago
Im sorry, I don't like Charlie Sheen but 55K a month is ridiculous. It doesnt cost that much to raise to damn kids...
    • bluemeanies  •  10 mths ago
while there isn't a healthy child alive that requires $55,000 a month and i think that's a disgusting waste of money, how big of an %$# does he have to be to not pay child support?
    • C  •  10 mths ago
I thought it was bad that I pay $2800 a month. The courts are just flat out dead in the head. Maybe she and my ex should get jobs like the rest of the world.

thats more than twice what i make a year!!!!! thats nuts
