Justice Department holds summit on investor fraud

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Department of Justice says the country's recession has resulted in an unprecedented rise in investment fraud schemes, and it is holding a regional summit in Nashville on the topic.

The event will be Thursday at the Vanderbilt University School of Law and will feature speakers from the FBI, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Better Business Bureau and President Barack Obama's Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force.

Nashville was selected based on the volume and nature of investment fraud schemes prosecuted by the U.S. attorney's office in Nashville. Victims will also share their stories about falling prey to these schemes.
