Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez might be one step closer to getting engaged! Well, at least they've allegedly decided that they want permanent symbols of their love for each other and are getting matching tattoos.
It's not an engagement ring, but in a way it's even more meaningful. After all, rings can be easily taken off and sold, while it's painful and costs money to have tattoos removed.
Luckily Selena and Justin have reportedly opted for tiny matching tats. So they'll probably go for something more like the small music note that Selena got inked on her wrist and less like the gigantic portrait of Jesus on Justin's leg. Or maybe Selena will help Justin celebrate his album 'Believe' by getting a tattoo like the one Justin debuted on David Letterman's show -- the talk show host admonished the teen for getting "Believe" inked on his arm. He told Justin that he doesn't want the singer to end up looking like the Sistine Chapel, and the Biebs reassured him that he's "not going for the sixteenth chapel."
This wouldn't be the first time that Justin got a matching tattoo with someone - he and his dad got the Hebrew word for "Jesus" tattooed on their sides in Israel last year.
Tattoo artist Bang Bang has reportedly been in talks with the teen couple after recently inking Rihanna. Shortly after Chris Brown and Drake's violent bar brawl (which was allegedly all about her), the sexy singer decided to get a rather violent tattoo - a gun-shaped falcon. She tweeted about the tat, "Falcon: a light that shines in the darkness! Never close their eyes during sleep." So obviously to RiRi it's a symbol meant to remind her to always watch her back.
Some members of the boy band One Direction recently followed in the Biebs' footsteps by getting inked, and just like RiRi, they also chose a famous artist to design their tats - reality show star Kat Von D.
Zayn Malik added a large microphone on his arm to his collection, which includes his grandfather's name in Arabic written across his chest, crossed fingers on his other arm, and a yin and yang symbol on his wrist. Meanwhile Harry Styles opted for something a bit smaller and simpler - the Temper Trap lyrics "won't stop 'till we surrender" next to the star on his arm. But as the Biebs has proved, all this ink doesn't mean that these British boy band members are turning into bad boys.
Miley Cyrus also added a new tat to her collection last month, but she apparently didn't do her research - she got the Roman numerals VIIXCI inked near her right elbow. Unfortunately the numbers mean nothing when they're all lumped together, so it's not surprising that Miley was photographed leaving Manny Pacquiao's tattoo parlor a few days later - it's very possible that she had the tat changed to make it actually mean something.
But Miley isn't the only celeb that has regretted a tat. Perhaps Justin and Selena need to look back at all the terrible tattoo tales of other stars - Kat Von D is now stuck with a portrait of ex Jesse James on her ribs; Johnny Depp had Winona Ryder's name shortened to "Wino;" and Angelina Jolie had her tattoo tribute to ex Billy Bob Thornton removed and covered up with another tat. Plus there are plenty of other sad celebrity stories that prove that it's important to think before getting inked.
So do you think that Justin and Selena will join this club if they get matching tattoos?
