Is Kanye West Defending Bill Cosby? Rapper Tweets Support for the Comedian Amid Legal Battles

Could Kanye West be voicing his support for Bill Cosby?

The rapper tweeted on Tuesday saying that he believes the comedian to be innocent amid legal battles regarding Cosby's sexual assault investigation.

"BILL COSBY INNOCENT!!!!!" West, 38 wrote.

PEOPLE reached out to representatives for West who have so far been unavailable for comment.

Celebrities have previously condemned Cosby, 78, over the sexual assault claims against him, including Judd Apatow and Lena Dunham.

Cosby is currently confronting allegations in Pennsylvania made by Andrea Constand, the former director of operations for the Temple University women's basketball team, who says that Cosby sexually assaulted her at his house in January 2004 after giving her pills that knocked her out.

The Cosby Show actor's lawyers argued that he was promised immunity – and therefore should face no criminal prosecution in Montgomery County – after he agreed to cooperate in a civil lawsuit filed against him by Constand, by giving a deposition in which he admitted to offering Quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with.

A hearing on Cosby’s anti-SLAPP motion, filed by Cosby’s team which protects free speech, is set for Feb. 29.

Cosby and his representatives have consistently denied all allegations of sexual assault or misconduct made against him by more than 50 women.
