Katie Holmes: I'm Still A Midwestern Girl Who Likes Boxed Wine

Katie Holmes might be a leading lady on the stage and screen, but deep down she's still in touch with her roots - and her affection for budget wine.

"I still think of myself as Midwestern," the 33-year-old Ohio native told The New York Times in an interview while promoting her new Broadway play, "Dead Accounts."

"I mean, I've had box wine... It's good. And it's a lot easier to open," she continued.

Following her split from Tom Cruise, Katie spent time with daughter Suri and her family in Ohio this summer, where they enjoyed many nights out getting ice cream. Katie discovered a new favorite flavor, "Spouse Like a House," (vanilla with chocolate-covered pretzels and caramel), which she worked off by going to her childhood parks with Suri.

In addition to enjoying some comfort food with her family, Katie has been relying on her loved ones for support as her life transitions.

"I have these moments where what's going on in my life is unbelievable, and you have to tell everyone to figure out how to respond," she told the paper. "My siblings and I are always on the phone saying: 'Oh my God, what do you think? What does Mom think? What does Dad think?' And then you act accordingly."

As for her second Broadway stint, where she co-stars with Judy Greer and Josh Hamilton, Katie explained that she's having some pre-premiere jitters.

"I have a hard time sleeping because I think about how serious this all is," she explained. "I think about the cost of tickets. I think to myself: 'You better do a good job. People are paying a lot of money.' You want to know your stuff." "Dead Accounts" has its official opening on November 29 at The Music Box Theatre in New York City.
