Kazakhstan's Air Astana orders Boeing 787 and 767
CHICAGO (AP) — Boeing Co. said on Thursday that Kazakhstan-based Air Astana has ordered seven planes, including three of its new 787s.
The order would be worth $1.3 billion at list prices.
The order includes four Boeing 767s to be delivered starting next year. Air Astana said those planes will replace leased 767s and 757s.
Boeing was nearing the end of commercial production of the 767, although it got a lift with a December order from FedEx for 27 of them. A military version of the 767 is also the basis for the new aerial refueling tanker that Boeing is building for the U.S. Air Force.
Air Astana has said it expects to get its 787s in 2017 and 2019. The airline said the 787s will have the range for it to consider longer routes than it flies now, to points in the U.S., the Australia-New Zealand-New Guinea area and Africa.
Shares of Chicago-based Boeing rose 20 cents to $75.15 in midday trading.
