Keith Mayer: Commercial fire in Schuylkill County draws crews from Berks

Mar. 5—Berks County fire crews were summoned about 5 a.m. Saturday to a multialarm commercial blaze in southern Schuylkill County.

Hamburg, Shoemakersville and other stations took part in battling flames at Heim Construction, 1020 Chestnut Road, West Brunswick Township, near Orwigsburg.

The original call went out about 4:30 a.m. for an automatic fire alarm. Police arrived on location to find a working fire, according to skooknews.com.

As fire personnel arrived on scene, multiple aerial units as well as a third alarm tanker task force was called, and all incoming units were told the attack would be from the exterior only, skooknews.com reported.

Berks units were clear from the fire by 10 a.m. State police at Schuylkill Haven were investigating but had issued no details by late Saturday morning.
