Kelly Clarkson: 'I Was Blackmailed Into Working With Demeaning Dr. Luke'

Last month the world was left stunned when a court ruled that Kesha must remain on her contract with Sony Music and producer Dr. Luke despite the singer alleging that Dr. Luke had emotionally abused and raped her.

Stars, including Lady Gaga, rallied around Kesha with many coming forward with their own negative experiences of working with the producer, and now Kelly Clarkson has claimed that she was “blackmailed” into working with him.

Although the American Idol star said that she didn’t know anything about Kesha’s personal situation, she did say that she had first-hand experience with Dr. Luke that showed he is “not a good person”.

Speaking on Australia’s KIIS 106.5 Kelly explained: “I’ll be honest about the guy, but I don’t know that situation. He’s not a good person, to me. We’ve clashed. He’s difficult to work with, he’s kind of demeaning.

"Obviously he’s a talented dude but he’s lied a lot. Musically it’s been really hard for me because he will just lie to people and it makes the artist look bad.

"When so many artists don’t like you, that says something. I only worked with him because literally I was blackmailed by my label. It was a really hard time for me.

"We have a whole crew to support…people that depend on us for their livelihood so sometimes you have to make decisions that you just have to swallow that pill.”

Despite not enjoying her experience with Dr. Luke - real name Lukasz Gottwald - Kelly did add that he didn’t sexually assault her, sharing: “He didn’t do anything like that to me.”

When the court ruled in Sony and Dr. Luke’s favour Kelly took to her Twitter page to share her support for the star, writing: “Trying 2 not say anything since I can’t say anything nice about a person… so this is me not talking about Dr. Luke [sic].”

Dr. Luke has denied all of the allegations made against him.
