Kentucky Firefighters Electrocute Themselves During Ice Bucket Challenge
Two firefighters were injured during an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge attempt in Campbellsville, Kentucky on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
The men were helping members of the Campbellsville University marching band take part in the ALS challenge when their truck got too close to an electrical pole, shocking the firefighters, and sending all of them to a Taylor Regional Hospital.
According to Police Chief Tim Hazlette, Captain Tony Grider, 41, and Simon Quinn, 22, who were in the bucket of the truck's aerial ladder when the incident occurred, were eventually sent to the University of Louisville's Medical Center Burn Unit. Grider is in critical condition and Quinn is listed as fair, the hospital told the AP.
Captain Steve Marrs, 37, and Alex Johnson, 28, received less severe electric shocks as they lowered the ladder that was carrying Grider and Quinn.
"We had invited the fire department to come and do an ALS cold water challenge... and what appeared to be a very good event has had a tragic turn," Campbellsville University President Mike Carter told WHAS-11 in a video interview.

The university, which has 3,600 students, held a prayer vigil Thursday night.
