SASKATOON - Alberta's Kevin Koe advanced to the semifinal at the Canadian men's curling championship with a 10-6 win over his younger brother, Jamie, and his Yukon and Northwest Territories team.
Alberta was to face Manitoba's Rob Fowler later Saturday. The semifinal winner takes on Ontario's Glenn Howard in Sunday's final.
The Territories qualified for the Brier playoffs for the first time. Playoff games were introduced into the format in 1980.
Alberta finished third in the preliminary round at 8-3, followed by the Territories at 7-4.
The playoff between the Koe brothers was a see-saw battle until the seventh end, when Alberta stole one before adding four in the eighth.
