Kim Kardashian, Dr. Drew Team On HLN #RedFlag Mental-Health Programs

#RedFlag, an HLN documentary about the collision between Millennial mental-health challenges and social media, is coming May 5 from executive producer Kim Kardashian, with an after-show hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky.

“I am blessed to be surrounded by family and friends that are loving and nurturing, but not everyone has that kind of support,” said Kardashian, a social-media powerhouse who developed the show based on challenges she saw facing some people close to her. “Twenty-five percent of adults in America will suffer from a mental illness in their lifetime, and many of them turn to social media to vent their depression, loneliness and isolation.’

The documentary tracks the experiences of two young adults struggling with mental-health issues. It will suggest ways to use social media both as a way to relieve pressure and also spot trouble for the mentally ill.

The documentary will be followed by interactive aftershow programming featuring Pinsky, the reality-show star who also routinely treats mental illness and addiction in his practice. The aftershow will air in the hour after the program’s debut at 9 pm ET. Pinsky will air additional programming all month themed to May’s status as Mental Health Awareness Month during his own show and during HLN’s mid-day The Daily Share.

The doc’s producers are GRB Entertainment with executive producers Kardashian, Gary R. Benz, Michael Branton and Jean Shi. Kari Kim is VP Program Development at HLN.
