Former consultant Mark Imhof is now known as Mark the Dog Guy, and with good reason.

Imhof has dedicated his life to helping shelter dogs increase their chances of being adopted — by giving them complimentary makeovers.

Imhof, a rescue dog owner himself, noticed that many shelters didn't have the time or the resources to groom their rescue dogs properly — decreasing their chances of being adopted.

So he decided to attend the American Academy of Pet Grooming, where he honed his now-famous skills.

Then, he began scheduling free grooming sessions for dogs at the Animal Care Centers of NYC. And pups like Elmo were very grateful.

Now, Imhof helps dozens of dogs put their best paws forward.

"All dogs need homes, whether they are from a pet store, breeder or a shelter," he told Metro UK.

And with Imhof's help, these pups will have a real shot.
