Share prices on Bursa Malaysia were mixed at mid-afternoon on lack of strong support as investors remained cautious due to

uncertainties over external factors, dealers said.

At 3.05pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI fell 0.21 points to 1,831.09.

The market tone was also negative as losers outnumbered gainers by 398 to 341 while 305 were unchanged, 509 untraded and 26 others suspended.

The volume of shares amounted to 1.27 billion worth RM1.11 billion.

An analyst said gains by blue chips were minimised by the absence of strong support and continued mild selling pressure.

The benchmark index was weak, dragged down by trade, services and

plantation counters.

Among the volume leaders, Iris gained one sen to 39 sen, Asian Pac rose 2.5 sen to 21.5 sen and Sumatec added half-a-sen to 30 sen.

Heavyweights, Maybank rose four sen to RM9.85, Tenaga shed four sen to RM11.76 and Axiata was flat at RM6.77.

On scoreboard, the Finance Index surged 44.451 points to 16,765.47, the Plantation Index dwindled 61.12 points to 8,653.51 and the Industrial Index was 2.94 points higher at 3,107.42.

The FBM Emas Index added 2.87 points to 12,681.17, the FBMT100 Index rose 1.56 points to 12,388.88, the FBM 70 increased 13.56 points to 14,121.18 and the FBM Ace went up 1.3 points to 5,963.98.-- Bernama
