The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) closed slightly higher today on late buying interest in plantation stocks.
The FBM KLCI rose by 1.47 points to close at 1,825.64 points after moving between 1,821.75 and 1,826.73 throughout the day.
Plantation counters, Kuala Lumpur Kepong and Genting Plantations, were top gainers, adding 42 sen and 40 sen each to RM24.22 and RM10.60 respectively.
"The gains, however, were limited by losses in the finance stocks such as Hong Leong Capital Bhd and Public Bank," he said.
The Finance Index dipped 35.92 points to 16,628.42.
The Plantation Index jumped 84.88 points to 8,601.59 points and the Industrial Index increased 14.23 points to 3,103.77 points.
The FBM Emas Index rose 17.36 points to 12,610.5, FBMT100 Index garnered 15.1 points to 12,305.94, FBM 70 advanced 37.24 points 13,846.56 and the FBM Ace chalked up 124.5 points to 6,257.11 points.
Market breadth was positive as gainers thumped losers by 421 to 398, while 320 counters were unchanged, 467 untraded and 18 others suspended.
Volume declined to 2.47 billion shares worth RM2 billion from 2.71 billion shares worth RM2.34 billion on Tuesday.
Among the active counters, PDZ Holdings added 2.5 sen to 15.5 sen, Iris Corp was five sen higher at 50 sen and Frontken earned half-a-sen to 11.5 sen.
Minetech Resources eased one sen to 30.5 sen.
Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell two sen to RM9.80, CIMB lost four sen to RM7.19 and Axiata shed one sen to RM6.55.
TNB improved six sen to RM11.86.
Main Market volume slipped to 1.91 billion units worth RM1.82 billion from 2.21 billion units worth RM2.23 billion on Tuesday.
Turnover on the ACE market rose to 520.75 million shares valued at RM173.22 million from 470.81 million shares valued at RM102.88 million yesterday.
Warrants rose to 31.19 million units worth RM3.34 million from 25.81 million units worth RM3.32 million previously.
