KL shares remain lower mid-morning

KUALA LUMPUR: Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained mixed at mid-morning today on lack of fresh leads.

At 11.10am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.92 of-a-point easier at 1,868.29, after opening 1.30 points lower at 1,867.91.

In regional markets, Japan's Nikkei 225 eased 0.17 per cent to 15,702.48, Singapore's Straits Times fell 0.54 per cent to 3,328.38 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng contracted 0.08 per cent to 25,297.92.

On the local market, heavyweights Public Bank jumped 10 sen to RM19.28, Axiata was flat at RM6.92, Maybank and TNB eased two sen each to RM10.14 and RM12.32 respectively and CIMB declined four sen to RM7.24.

On the scoreboard, the Finance Index advanced 33.20 points to 17,486.49, the FBMT100 Index added 5.44 points to 12,620.14 but the Plantation Index declined 69.29 points to 8,553.75.

The Industrial Index added 1.97 points to 3,253.63 and FBM 70 appreciated 51.2 points to 14,301.96.

The FBM Emas Index added 9.16 points to 13,034.2 and the FBM Ace rose 6.14 points to 6,891.22.

Market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers by 339 to 249 with 325 counters unchanged, 713 counters untraded and 29 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 853.39 million shares worth RM513.71 million.

Among actives, Compugates and PDZ Holdings went up one sen each to 6.5 sen and 29.5 sen respectively, Tek Seng Holdings rose seven sen to 76 sen and Sumatec was flat at 45 sen.-- Bernama
