Koch Industries looking to fill 2,500 jobs

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Koch Industries is looking to fill 2,500 job openings across the nation thanks to the commercial growth of most of its subsidiaries.

Company officials said most of the 300 job openings at Koch Industries and 10 of its subsidiaries in Wichita are new, professional positions in areas such as information technology, accounting and engineering, The Wichita Eagle (http://bit.ly/t02aP1) reported Friday.

"Most of the job openings are due to growth as opposed to replacement," said Jeff Morris, director of talent development for Koch Industries.

"It's a good problem to have," he said of the overall job openings. "You'd like to be able to fill positions as quickly as you can. But we are selective and find the best we can hire. It's not necessarily a quick catch-up."

Flint Hills Resources, one of the business units adding jobs, has been expanding its renewable fuels operations the past couple of years, including an equity investment earlier this year in Benefuel and an acquisition last year of ethanol plants in Iowa. Koch Fertilizer has boosted its production internationally. Koch Pipeline has expanded its transportation capabilities.

Koch Industries and its subsidiaries have increased its Wichita workforce from 2,200 a few years ago to 2,555 employees this year.

Other business units adding jobs include Koch Chemical Technology Group, Invista, Koch Industries, Koch Carbon, Koch Fertilizer, Koch Minerals, Koch Pipeline Co., Koch Supply and Trading, Matador Cattle Co. and the C. Reiss Coal Co.

Morris also noted that the company plans to bring in more than 100 interns and co-op students next summer, compared to 79 this past summer and 65 the previous year.

"We just completed our most active college recruiting season in the last several years," Morris said.

      • Last Crusader 5 mths ago
We can only hope they keep hiring because if your waiting for Owebama and the Democrats, you'll be old, homeless and begging for food before they create 2500 jobs.

It`s better than 2500 less jobs......

The Koch brothers are set to benefit from the Keystone XL pipeline project when/if it happens because, according to Reuters, the already import about 25% of the Canadian oil currently being produced from the tar sands deposits that would ultimately "feed" the pipeline. No wonder the GOP is so gung ho to get this party started! More money in their OWN pockets.....
      • Frankie B 5 mths ago
or is it no wonder Obama`s gung ho against it? The pipeline is good for the unions, good for our oil independence from the middle east, great for job creation and great for the economy so what the problem?? Funny how you forgot to mention that Obama gave George Soros billions for oil research in South America. What`s wrong with people making money?
      • Agent-X 5 mths ago
No dumb@zz..it means more money in Americans pockets. More money in Canada's pockets instead of Saudi Arabias pockets.

        idiot.

Every single decision Obama has ever made is to either buy votes, or pay back the people who bought his last election.

The Koch brothers owe a debt of gratitude to their wholly-owned subsidiary...THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!
    • TR RINO  •  5 mths ago
Rich people don’t create jobs, nor do businesses, large or small. What does lead to more employment is the feedback loop between customers and businesses. Only consumers can set in motion a virtuous cycle that allows companies to survive and thrive and business owners to hire. An ordinary middle-class consumer is far more of a job creator than a rich person ever has been or ever will be.

OMG But how is it possible that the Koch brothers are adding new jobs. For years they've been telling us that Obama is destroying the economy and that businesses are frightened of him. And yet here are the tea bag puppet masters hiring people. Makes you wonder.
      • Phillips 5 mths ago
Yes, makes it very clear. That employers will hire, once there is demand. I guess all that spending Pres O did is working..
      • Impartial Observer 5 mths ago
Speculation that Obama will be voted out in November 2012 is already the best "stimulus" for the US Economy !!
    • Smithers  •  5 mths ago
That's 2,499 when you subtract the job they've got waiting for Herman Cain.
      • Vince 5 mths ago
2,498 don't forget their lap dog Walker.
    • Vince  •  Chicago, United States  •  5 mths ago
Walker and some others from the GOP will be filling them in after the elections.
    • Steve  •  5 mths ago
The Koch Brothers hiring 2500 new part-time under paid benefitless serfs..oh boy!!

I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

This is the Ad Placed By Koch Industries:

      "Help Wanted:

People with a maximum of a second grade education are needed to post right wing rants, call names and paste unsubstantiated baloney from right wing talk show hosts, prison planet articles and talking points from various nut job all-night radio shows.

Applicants must be semi-literate and write in that manner. Higher education may inhibit your ability to reach your target audience of tea party prospects, members and leaders.

The successful candidate will be required to make postings with misspelled words and use poor punctuation, bad grammar, personal insults and generous sprinklings of "all caps" text and ellipses. Thinly veiled racial slurs and name calling is required. Knowledge of Alex Jones, Glenn Beck and Jesse Ventura conspiracies is desired.

Applicants may submit their resume to Wichita Kansas or at any Tea Party headquarters."

      LMAO !!!

I would rather be homeless, living in a cardboard box in an alley and foraging for food in garbage cans than work for the utter slime that is the Koch brothers. My job doesn't pay much, but at least I can sleep at night knowing my money is clean, since it comes from a local company owned by a native of this area who doesn't involve himself in politics. The Koch Butchers should be tried and executed for treason against the United States for starting the BigoTea Party and using it to manipulate the electoral process and elevating trolls to power just so they can rape the economy. Again.
