    Komen drops plan to cut Planned Parenthood grants

      Why is that some people only think of abortions when Planned Parenthood is mentioned? They provide health screening services, treatment for women and men who can't afford such services. For a lot of people in rural areas, this is the only service they can get.

        Sadly, this is what some people choose to focus on. It is ironic that the same people do not see letting men and women die from lack of proper health care as killing, it can be view as premeditated murder. As well, in many cases, contraceptive medications are prescribed to treat conditions such as acne, cramps, irregular menstrual cycles amongst others and not as a birth control method.

      wow...what a huge mistake! ...not the reversal but starting the whole controversy in the 1st place. Before they made the decision to "de-fund" PP, they were getting a fair share of donations and nobody associated them with any political bent. Then they incurred the wrath of the pro-choice people with the threat of less donations. -- the reversal has now #$%$ off the pro-life people -- they've really opened up a can of worms and created a no-win situation -- very sad.

      You shouldn't donate to SGK anyway. It was reported a while ago only around 10% of the donation money actually goes to funding and research. The other 90% goes to "administration" costs.

        I'm with you bro. It has become a huge money maker and very little goes to research to find a cure. Obviously, they aren't in too big of a hurry to find a cure. More like the SGK Stroll for the Cure.

      Wise decision. Abortion counts for only about 3% of what Planned Parenthood does. They don't froth at the mouth to perform abortions, its a service they provide, one of many, and
      last I checked, it was legal - since the 1970s. Do you support war? Do you support the death penalty? If so, you best rethink your opinion about abortion.

      Simple solution for abortions is to plan parenthood. Be wise enough to not have unwanted pregnancy. This is what 'Planned Parenthood' facilities do for people.

      When I was an Undergrad student I had no Medical insurance and no way to pay for good health care. Planned Parent Hood took care of me for free. Free Physicals, Pap-Smears and vaccinations. No judgement, no questioned asked they were truly concerned ONLY about my health and well-being. And thats the what Women's Health care should be not about politics or religion even if it is a free service. 8 years later, after receiving good quality care from Planned Parent hood I have a continuous Pledge with them.

      Another life lesson......know where your donated dollars go before you give.
      How much of that dollar,for example, that you gave to the American Red Cross actually helped someone in need.................pennies.

      Brinker needs to resign and Komen needs an overhaul, they are a corporation now, not a breast cancer funding organization. They spend little on actual research while company bigwigs get lavish salaries, they have high profile lawyers ready to pounce on any small charity organization that uses the term "cure' or phrase "for the cure" which is insane. Selling pink plastic things does not cure cancer. All women deserve free breast screenings regardless of income. Nice back pedaling Komen, you're reputation is tarnished for good.
