The Fall season of Dancing with the Stars 2010 has its first unofficially official cast member leak, according to multiple reports. If TV.com and The Washington Post have it right, former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner will hoof it on the esteemed Ballroom Floor when the 11th round of DWTS kicks off September 20th on ABC. The full - and likely eclectic, if history is an indicator - cast of characters is scheduled to be revealed during the August 30th broadcast of ABC's new smarmalicious reality show Bachelor Pad.
In addition to an illustrious career with the St. Louis Rams, New York Giants and Cardinals, the 39-year old Warner is the father of seven children. Unlike an octo-dad who frequently finds his face plastered inside glossy gossip rags (and we'll be nice, but I think we all know which tattooed douchebag and ex of a former DWTS contestant I'm referring to here), Warner is generally regarded as a stand-up guy. He and wife Brenda, who are devout Christians, founded the Kurt Warner First Things First Foundation in 2001. According to a statement on Warner's official website, the charity serves to "reach out to the community to share our blessings with those in need".
Kurt Warner's participation in Dancing with the Stars 2010 places him in good company with an elite group of former NFL legends who successfully strutted their stuff on the hit reality show. Record-setting wide receiver Jerry Rice, who is a member of the 2010 class of Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees, finished second to boybander Drew Lachey at the close of DWTS season 2. Warren Sapp also finished in first runner-up with partner Kym Johnson during season 7. Fomer Dallas Cowboys quarterback Emmitt Smith bested Rice and Sapp's outcomes when he took the season 3 Mirrorball Trophy with partner Cheryl Burke via his surprising ease of motion and relaxed disco-king (really, he was smooth like butta) style.
The most recent NFL superstar to tackle a stint on Dancing with the Stars was active player Chad Ochocinco. Paired with two-time pro champ Cheryl Burke during the Spring 2010 season, Ochocinco finished an extremely respectable fourth, given the competition that presented in the form of Olympian Evan Lysacek and eventual winner pop star Nicole Scherzinger. Other football players who have appeared include Michael Irvin, Lawrence Taylor and Jason Taylor.
Warner's familiarity with the rigors of physical conditioning coupled with his age could make him a contender on DWTS season 11. But is he smooth like Smith or junky clunky? We'll have to wait and see.
Kurt Warner's official Twitter page neither confirms nor denies the rumors as of press time, but keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked for Dancing with the Stars season 11 casting spoilers and updates. They're sure to roll in over the coming weeks.
