Lance Armstrong will be burned in effigy

If being stripped of his Tour de France titles wasn’t enough, the English town of Edenbridge has elected to burn a 30 foot replica of disgraced professional cyclist Lance Armstrong to burn.

The giant statue will be lit on Saturday, Nov. 5 in celebration of Guy Fawkes Day, the Associated Press reports. It is a tradition in England to set off fireworks and to burn bonfires and effigies on Nov. 5 to commemorate the foiling of Guy Fawkes’ plot to blow up Parliament in 1605.

Edenbridge has a history of choosing celebrity athletes to burn in effigy, building replicas of soccer stars Wayne Rooney and Mario Balotelli in years past.
