'The Last of Us: Remastered' Hits PS4 Summer 2014

The poignant, post-apocalyptic action of Naughty Dog's "The Last of Us" became one of gaming's biggest successes in 2013, selling 3.4 million copies in its first three weeks and garnering over 200 game-of-the-year awards. Many fans were eager to see this PS3 action-horror hit make the jump to next-gen, and now it's official: "The Last of Us" will be coming to PS4 this summer.

In addition to the more polished graphics made possible by the PS4, "The Last of Us Remastered" will include the "Left Behind" single-player expansion and "Abandoned Territories" multiplayer map pack, both of which were sold as separate pieces of downloadable content for the PS3 version.

This repackaging will also include the unreleased "Reclaimed Territories" map pack, which Sony will providing details on soon. The publisher notes that additional information on the game's PS4-specific upgrades will be announced "in the coming months."

"The Last of Us" tells the harrowing story of Joel and Ellie, a duo who fight to survive in the wake of an infection that is turning people into zombie-like creatures. The action title gained near-universal praise from fans and critics, thanks to its photorealistic graphics, voice acting and an evocative story that demonstrated just how far people would go to protect the ones they love.

Sony made a smart move bringing its biggest 2013 game to its next-generation console, as some PS4 owners may have missed out on picking up a PS3. You can pre-order "The Last of Us: Remastered" right now, with a variety of pre-order bonuses available, such as extra supply points and character skins.
